Wamiqa Gabbi: Rising Star in Indian Cinema – Full Career Overview

Wamiqa Gabbi is an Indian actress who works in Punjabi, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu films.

She was born into a Punjabi family. Her father is a well-known writer in Hindi and Punjabi. She studied at St. Xavier’s School and graduated from D.A.V College in Chandigarh.

Wamiqa began her acting career with a small role in the Hindi film Jab We Met (2007). She gained more attention with the Punjabi film Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22 (2013), starring alongside Yo Yo Honey Singh and Amrinder Gill, and was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the PTC Punjabi Film Awards.

She went on to act in several Punjabi movies, including Ishq Brandy (2014), Nikka Zaildar 2 (2017), Parahuna (2018), Dil Diyan Gallan (2019), and Nikka Zaildar 3 (2019).

Her first lead role was in Sixteen (2013), followed by a lead role in the Telugu film Bhale Manchi Roju (2015). She later starred in other South Indian films such as Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam (2016, Tamil) and Godha (2017, Malayalam), winning a Best Debut Actress award for Godha.

She also acted in Iravaakaalam (Tamil) and 9 (Malayalam, 2019) with Prithviraj Sukumaran and Mamta Mohandas.

In 2021, she had a small role in the Hindi film 83, playing the wife of cricketer Madan Lal. In 2023, she starred in the Punjabi film Kali Jotta and a short film Fursat with Ishaan Khatter, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj.

Apart from films, Wamiqa has appeared in web series like Eclipse (2021), Mai (2022), and Modern Love Mumbai (2022).

She has also been featured in music videos such as Ishq Haazir Hai (2015), Angreji Wali Madam (2017), Teri Khaamiyan (2018), 100 Percent Love Aata (2018), Kade Haan Kade Naa (2021), and Tere Laare (2021).
