Sardaar Ji 3 Faces Huge Loss Over Hania Aamir Casting, Reveals Producer

Why the Backlash?

The backlash grew especially strong because the film’s trailer came out after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir (April 22, 2025), in which 26 civilians were killed.

In response, several Indian film bodies like FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) called for a ban on the film and action against the filmmakers. They opposed any collaboration with Pakistani actors during a time of national mourning and political tension.

🎥 Producer’s Reaction:

Gunbir Singh Sidhu, producer and MD of White Hill Studios, clarified that:

  • The film was shot in the UK months before the attack, in Feb–March 2025.
  • There were no restrictions or bans at the time.
  • Once the attack happened, the team voluntarily decided not to release the film in India to avoid hurting public sentiments.
  • They only released the trailer overseas, and no Indian promotions were done.

💸 What’s the Financial Impact?

Sidhu revealed that their last film (Jatt & Juliet 3) made over ₹100 crore globally, with 40% of the revenue coming from India.

Since Sardaar Ji 3 is now banned from releasing in India, they expect to lose that 40% chunk — around ₹40 crore.

🎯 In Summary:

  • Film: Sardaar Ji 3 starring Diljit Dosanjh & Hania Aamir
  • Issue: Backlash due to casting a Pakistani actress post-terror attack
  • Result: Voluntary withdrawal from Indian release
  • Impact: Estimated ₹40 crore loss in revenue
